When this elegant, very ancient
sculpture was
formed, the worship of the fertility
goddess was
already old beyond reckoning. We can
imagine
the quick hands of the artisan who
formed it,
working in the temple complex, and those
of the
person who gave it in return for the
favor of
Astarte. Now our hands rest where theirs
did so
long ago and suddenly we are linked by
an
unbroken chain through time.
