Description
It was the custom in ancient Mexico to make offerings of food and liquid to help the deceased through eternity. This seated woman brings to her melancholy duties the immemse dignity of a primitive empress. We sense behind the clay the very real presence of a woman attending to her obligations, as if the mood of the figure reflects that of the person who gave it as gift for all time. - (PF.0986)
