Description
This elegant seal depicts a robed man, most probably a priest, worshiping at an altar adorned with ritual objects. Centuries ago, it was worn as a protective amulet, perhaps meant to continuously invoke the heavens. We know nothing about the person who wore it first, who they were, what they thought, what hopes and dreams moved them through life. We are not even certain of the gods whose protection they sought. Yet as we hold this splendid gem in our hands today, we are connected in an intimate way with that ancient life. - (FJ.3256)
