Description |
On its most basic level, this sculpture is a
sensitive study of the human form. With
naturalistic vigor, the artist has captured the
powerful curve of the back, the way the arms
rest on the knees, the angle of repose. The
proportions are hardly accurate, the details are
simplified, yet the overall impression is of a body
as the eye sees it. On a deeper level, the
sculpture conveys a mood of introspection we
can all identity within ourselves. Deep in
thought, as if putting life in perspective, this
man reminds us that we all need our quiet
moments.
