Olmecoid Sculpture of a Seated Woman - PF.1338
Origin: Morelos, Mexico
Circa: 900 BC to 500 BC
Dimensions: 8" (20.3cm) high x 4.375" (11.1cm) wide
Collection: Pre-Columbian
Style: Olmecoid
Medium: Terracotta

Though she is rendered with abstract strokes, this little woman radiates a very tangible sexual energy. A tantalizing blend of the naive and the sophisticated, she seems part child, part goddess. Her power we recognize as very ancient, something vital and primal as the earth itself. Though she comes from early Mexico, her charms would be recognized in Babylon, Egypt or ancient Greece. She is woman, ageless and eternal. - (PF.1338)
