This exquisite jade pendant of cool green stone depicts a harpy eagle, which was very likely worn by a shaman or some other person of high social stature. The harpy eagle, native to Central America, was considered a symbol of strength and nobility. Because it flew high above the landscape, it was thought to represent the all-seeing qualities of a shaman. In ancient times, this pendant was an emblem of high rank and authority. In the present world, its beautifully carved form and solemn spirituality gains our admiration. - (PF.2809)
