One can only think that this special female is the
idealized beauty of the ancient Costa Ricans.
She is stunning! Her aquiline features epitomize
the ancient Western and Mediterranean view of
idealized beauty that has been sculpted and
painted for centuries by all artistic geniuses. Her
high cheekbones are glamorous and she has full
sensual lips. She has a distinguished chin, which
reflects her self-assurance and aristocratic
intelligence. Her delicate, small nose is perfectly
set between her wide radiant eyes. Her coiffure
is drawn back from the forehead in a halo like
shape, and ear spools are prominent. The
extensive symmetrical body painting is striking.
She appears to be a goddess of the jungle
camouflaged in her habitat. Her hands are set
firmly on her knees with great dignity. There is a
sense of sculptural monumentality that is
conveyed by her proportions and by the Buddha
like pose which may be a ceremonial posture or
perhaps one of sexual receptivity. Could she be
the "Mona Lisa" of Mesoamerica? If so, who was
the artist and sculptor who created her as
Leonardo created the Mona Lisa during the
Renaissance? She radiates an aura of mystery
and divine beauty that seduces our attention and
remains an alluring enigma on our minds.
